Before you begin
You need a Mentova account. If you do not have one yet, sign up at mentova.ai - the FREE plan requires no credit card.
Step 1: Add a brand
After signing in you land on the dashboard. Click Add a brand (or use the onboarding wizard if this is your first login).
Fill in:
- Brand name - the exact name your brand goes by (e.g. "Mentova", "Notion", "Shopify").
- Domain - your website domain (used for source analysis).
- Industry - helps Mentova generate relevant prompts.
Click Create brand.
Step 2: Add topics
Topics define the search intents where you want to appear. Think of them as the questions your ideal customers ask AI assistants.
Examples:
- "best project management tool for remote teams"
- "how to track brand visibility in AI search"
From the brand dashboard, click Add topic. Add at least one topic, then save.
Step 3: Generate prompts
Mentova automatically generates a set of realistic prompts from each topic. You can review and edit them in the Prompts tab.
Prompts are written the way real users type questions into ChatGPT or Claude. The more specific your topics, the more targeted your prompts.
Step 4: Pick models and launch a campaign
In the Settings → Models tab, choose which AI models to include in your analysis. Every model you select is tested against every prompt.
Credit cost: premium models (GPT-4o, Claude Sonnet, Gemini Pro, etc.) cost 3 slots per prompt. Standard models cost 1 slot. Check your available credits before launching.
When ready, click Launch campaign from the main dashboard. A campaign runs asynchronously - you can close the tab and come back.
Step 5: Read your first results
Once the campaign completes (usually a few minutes), the dashboard updates with:
- Mention rate - what fraction of prompts mentioned your brand.
- Share of voice - your brand's share among all brands mentioned in responses.
- Competitor breakdown - which other brands appeared and how often.
- Opportunities - topics or angles where competitors appear but you do not.
What to do next
- Open the Competitors tab to see who ranks alongside you.
- Open Opportunities to find content gaps you can close.
- Set up Alerts to be notified when your mention rate changes significantly.
- Schedule automatic campaigns in Settings → Schedule so your data stays fresh.
